Up That Lonely Hill

I went for a jog, on my way back I decided to walk up the hill and then begin jogging on the flat road up ahead. As I began the walk up I felt my muscles exert tremendous effort and the realization of how tired I really was, kicked in.
A thought struck me about the Lord. He walked up a hill much higher than this one, he was much more tired than I and he bore a cross on his shoulders. If I did not continue my significantly small trek towards my house I would never get home. Eventually my husband would drive around and look for me. But if Jesus gave up and never finished that long walk none of us would have gotten home – that is, our heavenly home. Would someone come looking for Jesus and take him up to the hill? And if anyone loved him enough they may not have let him finish that walk up, knowing it was his death. They might have thought it a favor not to help him up Golgotha hill. It was important for him to go on even with no help (but God’s help).
We must continue, never giving up never waiting for a rescue, sometimes a rescue may ruin us. We must keep climbing up and not looking but heavenwards for help. We may never get rescued but we must go on nonetheless. We must never let anything stop us from “getting there”.
Hebrews 12:1,2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hi Mary,

I love your thoughts. I do want to go Home! Thanks for encouraging me to finish the race that is set before me. I'm looking forward to crossing that finish line and meeting my Saviour.

Sarah :)
